successful adwords campaign - Digital Media Construction After reading Marc Guberti’s article on how to improve your SEO, we couldn’t help to write more about some of the key topics he mentioned. There are definitely a lot of SEO strategies and they might be used to achieve different results. By this point we all know search engine optimization is a long and continuous process. However, depending on the approach you are taking, you might be able to see results fast. On his article, Marc mentions 5 ways to improve your SEO quickly but we’ll be focusing on three. If you ask several people what the purpose of SEO is, you’ll probably get different answers. But in general terms, these would probably be the most common: a. Being on the first page of search results for my keywords. b. Getting more clicks. c. Having people interact with my website. If you asked us, all three are correct but answer C is the ultimate goal of SEO, while A and B are just the means to get there. The chart above explains it in simple terms. Obviously, being on the first page is important but it isn’t all. We’ve taken clients who are ranking on the first page with thousands of impressions and are getting close-to-zero clicks. Why? Simply because their Meta descriptions aren’t optimized and they aren’t relevant to the users’ search queries. The other scenario is when you are in fact getting lots of clicks but your bounce rate is too high, which means that people leave your website after visiting only one of your pages or posts. This obviously means they’re not interacting with your content as much as you’d like them to. That takes us to the first way to improve your SEO: 1. Include links to older posts. Since you want people to interact with your page, you need to find a way to decrease the bounce rate and get people to visit more pages when they go to your website. One of the easiest ways to accomplish this is by including links to older posts with the right anchor text so that people are interested in following that link. This creates users that are willing to interact with your content! 2. Use long tail keywords. Like we mentioned before, there are different SEO strategies and you can use them depending on the kind of results you want. For instance, some might focus on optimizing the keywords with the largest impressions. Usually, these keywords are far more competitive, harder to get to the first page, and take a long more time to see results. But some people prefer to go for those tougher keywords and maybe rank on the second page and expect some people to click on their website, since after all, there are thousands of users searching for that term.Twitter A different strategy is to go for long tail keywords that have fewer impressions. Those are way easier and you could rank the keyword in one or two months after optimizing them! Maybe there aren’t as many people searching for them but if you are on the first positions, most people will click on your site if you are at the top and have a killer Meta Description! 3. Look at the search queries on Webmaster Tools. One of the reasons why you need fresh content on your website is that this creates new impressions and new search queries. Because of this, you need to constantly check your Webmaster Tools to see which keywords you could optimize and take advantage of! If you find a new search query on Webmaster Tools with a decent amount of impressions that isn’t ranking, you could take that opportunity to create a new post or landing page with the same exact words. If you do this, you’ll see the ranking increase in no time, especially if it’s a long tail keyword. Bottom-line, SEO doesn’t have to be a long-term process. Our best advice for you is to focus on keywords that are less competitive because you’ll be able to acquire new clicks very quickly. Of course you should also try to optimize the toughest keywords but know that it will take time and lots of work. So in the meantime, you get to see some results with less competitive keywords which provides the motivation to continue on doing SEO without getting discouraged.
